Katowice is about 80 kilometres from Krakow, the most visited city in Poland. The Polish city is a great example of modern art and Art Nouveau. Among the most interesting architectural monuments worth seeing in Katowice is the Cathedral of Christ the King. Also not to be missed is the majestic palace that once housed the Silesian Parliament. Cultural life in the city is very colourful. There are theatres, the Silesian Museum and the Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the famous Spodek, a Soviet-style concert hall that can seat up to 300,000 spectators.
