Neesles and syringes

If you need to carry needles and syringes on board, which are normally prohibited for carriage by the passenger, to be used during the trip for the treatment of medical conditions, we recommend that you notify us when booking your flight ticket.

In this case you will need to present a medical certificate, both at check-in and at the security check, stating the type of medicine and what it is used for.
As some Airlines may have additional procedures, we recommend that you contact the Carrier you will be flying with before departure. It is in fact the flight commander’s discretion to keep the syringe in the cockpit, even though you have provided a regular medical certificate.

In case you need to use the syringe, you will need to ask the cabin staff, who will retrieve it from the Commander, as well as arrange special containers for safe disposal.

REMEMBER: You will need to provide the injections yourself during the flight, the cabin crew cannot administer medication, including injections, under any circumstances.

DEVICES POWERED BY LITHIUM BATTERIES

Lithium batteries, designed to provide high levels of energy, are now very popular in consumer electronics: they power laptops, tablets, mobile phones, electric bikes, medical devices, etc.
It is important to know that their carriage in the cabin can cause safety problems and is therefore subject to restrictions.
The main risk is the blazing, caused by an impact, an assembly problem, a sharp increase in temperature or because the battery accidentally got wet.
For this reason, they must meet many requirements in both production and transport: if these are met, they are absolutely safe.
We recommend that you contact the airline or consult the website for more information and specifications.

WHICH BATTERIES CAN BE CARRIED ON BOARD AND HOW

The portability on board the aircraft (in the cabin or in the hold) of the lithium batteries inserted in the device or in stock depends on their size.

SMALL LITHIUM BATTERIES
(batteries with a power of less than 100 Wh)

Use:
smartphones, portable music players, laptops, cameras, portable oxygen concentrators
Company approval request: NO
Authorized in hold baggage
Authorized in hand baggage

REMEMBER: You will need to provide the injections yourself during the flight, the cabin crew cannot administer medication, including injections, under any circumstances.

Lithium batteries of medium size
Batteries with a power between 100 wh and 160 wh

Use: laptops, professional camcorders, portable medical devices, such as automatic external defibrillators, nebulizers, continuous positive pressure ventilation equipment
Company approval request: YES
Authorized in hold baggage
Authorized in hand baggage

REMEMBER: In checked baggage, the devices must be completely switched off and protected against damage.

Lithium batteries of large size
Batteries with a power of more than 160 wh

Use: electric and hybrid vehicles, mobility devices, industrial equipment
The carriage of this type of battery on board aircraft is not permitted with the sole exception of the batteries needed to power wheelchairs or other devices to assist passengers with reduced mobility.
In any case, we recommend that you contact the Airline when booking.

Lithium batteries and the aids for mobility

Battery powered mobility aids must be declared at check-in.

REMEMBER:
• The battery must be removed from the mobility aid
• The clamps must be individually protected to prevent short circuits, e.g. with adhesive tape
• The battery must be protected from damage and packed in a sturdy hard case.

ATTENTION: Some batteries do not contain the watt-hour indication (Wh); to determine it just multiply the volts by the amperes now (Wh=V x Ah).
Example: 12 V battery with 8 Ah =96 Wh
