Infants 0-2 years
Child aged between 0 and 2 years.
On board the aircraft, the infant is not entitled to a seat (must travel in the arms of an adult) nor to a baggage allowance.
For safety reasons, each child under 2 years of age must travel accompanied by a person at least 18 years of age, or in any case of an age in accordance with the Company's regulations; in turn, the latter may not take charge of more than one infant per flight. Two infants may travel with two adults, but on separate rows, as only one extra oxygen mask is available per row in case of emergency.

Child 2-12 years
Child between the ages of 2 and 12 years old, for some airlines even 14 years old. He or she is entitled to a seat on board the aircraft and has a baggage allowance equal to that of an adult.

Documents for national travel
To travel within national borders, one of the following identification documents is sufficient: identity card, passport or birth certificate with photo issued by the child's municipality of residence.

Documents for international travel
For international travel, minors of Italian nationality must necessarily be in possession of one of the following documents:
- identity card valid for foreign travel: valid for travel within the European Community or to a State that has a bilateral agreement with Italy and therefore accepts this document at the border on entry;
- individual passport: since 2009, minors are no longer allowed to travel with the registration of their parent/legal guardian in their passport;
In order to ensure greater security, individual passports became mandatory even for minors, introducing the principle of 'one person, one passport'; - passport or birth certificate or extract with photo: .valid only for certain destinations; it must be valid and endorsed by the Questura, in order to be used as a document to cross the border.
